Matthew 16:1-3

Are we asked to be tuned into the physical and spiritual events going on around us?

YES!

What does Genesis 1, say about the purpose of the heavens? For signs.

God intended for us to have signs and to be aware.

Genesis 1:14
Then God said, “Let there be lights in the expanse of the heavens to separate the day from the night, and let them be for signs and for seasons and for days and years;
Interesting that the first thing people do, is dismiss this as not literal or just meaning signs of the 4 seasons.  I think we get in trouble, when we change the clear meaning of text to align with our prejudices, fears, tradition, biases and comfort.

I believe these books are in the Bible for a reason and they are not to be dismissed or ignored.  God’s word always has purpose (every jot and tittle as the rabbi’s would say) and He wouldn’t give it to us, if there was not an expectation that we would read, learn and follow.

I have studied scores of these verses and the more I study, the more I realize that they are being fulfilled today.  I can give you a few and they are easily reasoned away.  I too was skeptical, but eventually blown away be the large numbers of these verses that are coming true.

Here are some signs of this world's implosion.  Stunning how rapidly, deep and widespread they are.

Just a few headlines from today.  Not yesterday.  Not tomorrow.  Just stop and soak it in - today's news.

Syria is imploding.  Assad lost his brother-in-law and a number of his leadership from death and desertion.  He is isolated, has fled Damascus and is hiding in his coastal palace.  Rebels have control of the capital.

More troubling - Syria has one of the largest stock piles of Chemical and Biological weapons in the world.

Chemical

Syria reportedly manufactures Sarin, Tabun, VX, and mustard gas types of chemical weapons.
Syria is one of only 7 nations which is not a party to the Chemical Weapons Convention.
While Syria has not publicly admitted to its chemical weapons program, Syrian officials have stated that they feel it appropriate to have some deterrent against Israel's similarly non-admitted nuclear weapons program when questioned about the topic.
Independent assessments indicate that Syrian production could be up to a combined total of a few hundred tons of chemical agent per year.

Syrian chemical weapons production facilities have been identified by Western nonproliferation experts at approximately 5 sites, plus one suspected weapons base:

Biological

The site at Cerin is also associated with an active biological weapons research and production.
According to NATO Consultant Dr Jill Dekker, Syria has worked on: anthrax, plague, tularemia, botulinium, smallpox, aflotoxin, cholera, ricin and camelpox, and has used Russian help in installing anthrax in missile warheads. She also stated "they view their bio-chemical arsenal as part of a normal weapons program".

If the Israelis were not terribly anxious about Iran and ready to attack and that before the U.S. elections and now Netanyahu is losing power with the desertion of the Kadima party and their leader Shaul Mofaz, so time is running out and now Syria to the north is turning into the wild west and on top of that Egypt has fallen into the hands of the Muslim Brotherhood, I'll bet they are now.  (how's that for a run on sentence?).

The U.N. once again rejected the call to intervene in Syria.  Thank you Russia and China.  Guess where they are getting their oil?  Yep, Iran and pipelines through Syria from Iran.

Israel has been quiet lately.  Netanyahu is not out beating the bushes for support.  He is resigned.  Plans are underway.

This week the pressure just got even hotter.

Failure for Israel to act preemptively will result in their destruction, from a coalition of evil in Lebanon, Syria, Russia, Iran, Egypt, Jordan and Ethiopia.

Israel knows it, however it is one thing to know you must sign the order that starts World War III and quite another to actually step off that bridge.

His word tells us that all of this is coming.  Everyday we see it get hotter and so it is.

If Damascus is about gone, and Tyre shown below is in Lebanon (right down the street), how long until Psalm 83 is fulfilled?  How long until Israel's enemies rise up against her?  Note the references to Jordan (Moab, Ammon, Edom, Lot, Ishmaelites), along with Tyre (Lebanon).

While Netanyahu looks at Iran, his neighbors plot against him.  Netanyahu lost an important part of his ruling majority this week.  He is under more pressure to move, before he loses power.

If he is to attack before the U.S. November election, he lost much power today and a sneak attack comes first (read on for the logic behind that sequence), how soon is it?

Edom means "red".  Esau was the hairy one and was red headed.  They didn't call him Esau they called him "red" or "edom".  Edom is in Jordan.  Moab, Ammon, Edom, Ishmaelites, same place.  The mountain fortresses in Jordan.

Prophecy against Damascus

Concerning Damascus.
“ Hamath and Arpad are put to shame,
For they have heard bad news;
They are disheartened.
There is anxiety by the sea,
It cannot be calmed.
24 “Damascus has become helpless;
She has turned away to flee,
And panic has gripped her;
Distress and pangs have taken hold of her
Like a woman in childbirth.
25 “How the city of praise has not been deserted,
The town of My joy!
26 “Therefore, her young men will fall in her streets,
And all the men of war will be silenced in that day,” declares the Lord of hosts.
27 “I will set fire to the wall of Damascus,
And it will devour the fortified towers of Ben-hadad.”

Do you see how the destruction of Damascus, is intertwined with the destruction of Lebanon and Jordan and it begins with a sneak attack against Israel?  Is Israel focused on Jordan or are they looking at Syria, Iran and to a lesser extent to Egypt?

Has Russia sent massive fire power to Syria?  Yes.

Is the whole world watching?  Yes.

Is Isaiah 15, 16 and 17 are about to fulfilled, read on.

Isaiah 18 describes the destruction of Ethiopia.  Many dark forces are now in that troubled country.  No one's watching Ethiopia, but it's right next door.

Isaiah 19 describes Egypt's destruction

Ezekiel 29 and 30 also speak of Egypt's destruction.

One of Israel's primary targets in a retaliation on Egypt is the Nile rivers Aswan High Dam.  If that Dam were destroyed, it is easy to see how the prophecies concerning the drying up of the Nile could occur.

It seems that the prophecies of Isaiah, Psalms and Ezekiel are coming true, right now.  At least with respect to Israel and her neighbors.

We are close.

Corn crop disaster

Drought multi-billion dollar disaster

Seems like a small thing.  A bad season in America's corn fields, however as with most news lately, look closer and breath it in.

Corn drives everything.  It feeds cattle and poultry.  It's found in dog food and in your Coke and Dr. Pepper.  It's in candy and chocolate, makeup, tires and crayons.  It is the source of ethanol in your gas tank.

Bountiful and cheap, it is has been ingrained through out the products we buy and the economy.

Projected to be the largest crop in U.S. history, projected yields are down to 30%.

This will have a "deep impact" on the fragile U.S. economy.

Have you read the Harbinger?  The explanation of Isaiah 9:10 and God's judgement of America.

Have you noticed the mountain beetle infestation, wildfires, droughts and crop failures?  There was similar news last summer.

Cities out of water.  Cities bankrupt.  America's economy on the way to implosion.

The Cedars have fallen.

Be ready.  Be urgent.  Tell someone.  Share the gospel.  Be the church.  Engage.  Be intentional.

The tsunami is coming, it's obvious now and we need to rule and reign until He comes.

Have you noticed how Syria continues to get worse and worse?  The defecting Syrian general says the battle is moving to Damascus.  Interesting in light of what we know of Isaiah 17 and Psalm 83.

Did you see where the U.S. sent another carrier group to the mid east?  This makes 4 or 5 - unheard of, putting this much fire power and asset in one locale.

Yitzhak Kaduri

Highly respected Israeli Rabbi Yitzhak Kaduri died in 2006.

When he died he left a sealed note, with instructions that it not be opened until the first anniversary of his passing.  He told his followers that the note would reveal the name of the messiah.

When opened in 2007 the note read "Yeshua" or "Jesus".  Of course his Hebrew followers weren't too pleased and this didn't generate a lot of news.

Yitzhak was over 100 when he died.

Something else he said was that the Messiah would come shortly after the death of former Prime Minister Ariel Sharon.

There was a false report just yesterday of Mr. Sharon's death.

Who knows about this, but just another sign pointing toward a soon return.

Mr. Sharon has been in a vegetative coma for five years.  His life expectancy is certainly not protracted.

Prayers for Mr. Sharon and his family.

Anyway, interesting little tidbit.

Fascinating how many things large and small are pointing to a soon return and quite a few are pointing to this fall.

Last winter a terrible storm knocked out power in some isolated areas of New England for two weeks.

As you can see from the link above the most recent storm, some will be without power for at least a couple of days.

Many rebuff those who stalk up for disaster.

I say look at these examples or Katrina, Fukushima, Chernobyl, the Thailand tsunami, the Haiti quake, the New Zealand disasters or a host of others and reconsider.

How far do you take this? I'm not sure. Our focus is to be our mission - making disciples.

John 2 and Matthew 16 tells us to wake up and smell the coffee.

If you're think it'll never happen to me, its as close as Colorado Springs, Fort Collins or Ruidoso.
