Isaiah 9:10 revisited

2 Chronicles 7:14 (NIV)
if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.

As we approach the precipice of destruction I am struck by the lack of humility and repentance in the face of such widespread strategy.

While I am deeply grateful and proud of the men and women in law enforcement, our gratitude tonight is not in the one God who protects and provides, the very present help in time of trouble (Ps 46:1), but in the ability of the collective (law enforcement).

God demands all of the glory, not because He has an ego problem, but because He alone is perfection.  All others are cheap imitations.  He wants the glory, because His purpose from the beginning was to share Himself (perfection, joy, peace, patience, goodness, gentleness, faithfulness, self control and love).

Why must we have such a massive law enforcement machine (MIT, MBTA, Boston, Littletown, County, State, FBI, CIA, DHS, INS, Secret Service, TSA, NSA, FEMA, U.S. Marshals, Bureau of Prisons, ATF, Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Coast Guard)?  Because there is so much evil.

We even have postal inspectors who lock and load.

Wiki - DHS

I am glad in this fallen world that we have them, but if you step back for a minute, you'll realize it's not a good thing.  It's a sad thing.

Again I am grateful, I am just sad, that God was not the one the country turned to in time of trouble.  It was to ourselves.

This is a Tower of Babel moment.   God said spread out, don't take a census (2 Sam 24:10), don't trust in yourself(Prov 3:5-6), don't have a King(1 Sam 8), don't acquire too much wealth, just trust Me.

  1. There is no other place of security in this world than Jesus, Whom God has made our Lord and Saviour. In the world we have tribulation, but in Him we have peace.
