The Gospel Part 3: Are You Ready To Be A Super Hero?

"But when the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared, he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit," - Titus 3:4-5

The Gospel is the ultimate rags-to-riches story. We were pitiful, poor, blind, and naked, deserving death because of our sins, and unable to help ourselves. We felt unloved and in turn were unloving. This bleak existence of dust-to-dust was all there was.  And then Jesus came.

He revealed to us a loving Daddy in heaven who would spare no expense.  We were no longer dust or chaff for the fire, but pearls of great price, treasured jewels, and prodigal sons.

He gave His life.  He took the bullet.  And in turn we received His righteousness, His blessings, and His reign.  We were invited in.  We were adopted by the King of all kings.

...But it doesn't stop there.  What if I were to tell you that those who trust in Christ were destined to wield power greater than Superman?  It's no tall tale.  God's Word promises it.  Read on.

"Beloved, now are we the children of God, and it does not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is." - 1 John 3:2

John writes that we shall be like Christ, but not quite yet... in the resurrection.  That would include incorruption and glorification, as well as the powers He wielded in His resurrection body.  The Bible also says we will be like the angels in Heaven, as well.

"Behold, I show you a mystery: We shall not all sleep; but we shall all be changed in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality." - 1 Corinthians 15:51-53

This incredible change from lowly earth-dweller to heavenly super hero occurs at the rapture.  In the "twinkling of an eye" those who trust in Christ will obtain:

1. Immortality

2. Incorruption

3. The ability to move at least at the speed of light

4. The ability to throw mountains around like snowballs

5. The ability to move through solid matter like water

6. Fire-breathing

7. Fire manipulation

8. The ability to appear and disappear instantly

9. The ability to fly

10. Weather manipulation of wind and water

11. Impenetrability

12. Fighting skills that would put Achilles, Batman, and Thor to utter shame

When you reject Christ, either by outright rejecting the Gospel, or by giving lip-service, but trying still to earn your way, you have almost nothing and lose even what you have.  But when you simply trust in the greatest news ever told you gain everything.  This series continues in Part Four.

  3. Yes that is true, we will become like Him, and the greatest asset I would want to acquire from Him is the kind of selfless love that He has shown to us.
