Perplexity At The Roaring And Tossing Of The Sea

In the Gospel of Luke, one of the major signs Jesus mentions as preceding His return (aside from earthquakes, wars, and signs in the heavens) is that "nations will be in anguish and perplexity at the roaring and tossing of the sea" (Luke 21:25).  I think that all of these record breaking hurricanes and cyclones over the past few years may play a part in the fulfillment of this prophecy.  Just in the last decade or so we've seen the most powerful, costliest, and unique cyclones on record.  In addition there was the massive December 2004 tsunami in the Indian Ocean that killed one quarter million people - the deadliest tsunami in all of recorded history.  It may be that this tsunami was the beginning of the final fulfillment of Luke 21:25.  And don't forget the Tohoku earthquake and tsunami in 2011 that killed nearly 16,000 people in Japan and triggered the Fukushima meltdown.  The Tohoku tsunami disaster is, to this day, the costliest natural disaster of any kind in all of human history and it was just five years ago!

And now there is news that unprecedented freak waves have lashed up and down Australia's east coast.  Australians are saying they have never seen anything like it.  They are perplexed.  In fact, the largest wave ever recorded in New South Wales just hit a few days ago.

Watch Jason A's coverage of these bizarre and perplexing waves below (skip to the 10:58 mark):

  1. Good evening.

    Great post.

There seems to me that there maybe a rhythm to these contractions. As they get closer together and more intense, perhaps (this is far fetched) there is a symphony being played in the tsunami's, earthquakes, volcanoes, meteors and prophetic fulfillments. What if when it's all over, we look back at the scriptures, the sequence and the events and go "how did we miss it? it was right there.".

  2. Luke 21:25New International Version (NIV)

25 “There will be signs in the sun, moon and stars. On the earth, nations will be in anguish and perplexity at the roaring and tossing of the sea.

During the period between December 26th, 2016 and January 24th, 2017. Record breaking waves have been recorded in four different locations, in different oceans and seas. The photo taken on 12/26/2016 on Boxing Day(British, Day after Christmas) is very impressive. You can see that photo by searching "46ft wave recorded in Shetland Islands"

Jan. 21, 2017, Monterey Bay California recorded the largest waves it has seen in 30 years with the swell reaching 34.12 feet at one point. The previous record was 32.8 feet in 2008.

Monster Baltic Sea wave sets new record

    Reported on 12 January 2017

A wave measuring almost 15 metres has smashed previous Baltic Sea records.
Strong winds and high water levels created unusually mighty waves on the Baltic Sea overnight, measuring around 8.2 metres in wave height according to Finland's weather institute.

Record waves batter Cabo de Palos
Waves of over six metres in Valencia, Catalunya and Murcia.

The extreme winter weather system which has affected eastern Spain for the last six days left waves of up to 6 metres along many parts of the Mediterranean coast, with previous records being shattered at many of the buoys forming part of the measurement network organized by the national port authorities. At Cabo de Palos in the south-east of the Region of Murcia, the measurement buoy recorded a high of 6.33 metres, comfortably exceeding the 5.7 metres of January 2013, but even this was exceeded on Saturday and Sunday in Valencia, where a wave of 6.45 metres was almost a full metre higher than the previous record, which dated from December 2009. Elsewhere, wave heights of over 6 metres were also reported in Tarragona and Dragonera, while in Barcelona the maximum over the weekend was 4.97 metres.

  3. I'm sure this week's contractions are getting closer together.

  4. I do believe all these storms have been getting worse and worse but are harbingers/warnings of what will be coming in the Tribulation period. I believe God is doing this to get our attention! But also I believe Matt 24 and Luke 21 are both talking about Armageddon and the millennial AGE and not the last day and not the rapture. As the apostles asked about the 2nd coming (ON EARTH and NOT the rapture when he meets us in the air) As the rapture hadn't even been revealed to John yet! (in rev.) Remember they are Jews talking to Jews, us believers won't be here then as God will take us out of the way so he can go back to dealing with the Jews ie. "Jacobs (Israels) trouble" (oops, got off topic) but any ways.."comfort each other with these words" And God Bless!

  5. It's about this right here

    https://www.sciencealert.com/a-warming-ocean-is-making-waves-stronger-and-more-destructive

This will come about..higher seas, combined with bigger waves..which are increasing at 2% a year in size and power. This will be exasperated by the upheaval caused by earthquakes..on land and in the sea, arising from the colossal amount of weight shifting as ice melts and plates rise(see national geographic)

The coming age of calving in the major ice areas of Greenland and Antarctica will also contribute to huge concentrations of waves as these cliffs fall into the ocean and glaciers collapse into the sea. All this combined with rapid sea levels will...of course..be a big cause for distress. I might mention some translations include "strange tides"..which could include the disruption of existing ocean currents already occurring, or a disturbed orbit of the planet caused by huge earthquakes, ocean displacement or other forces at play
