A Canadian company has just successfully obtained a U.S. patent on a 12-mile high tower that will allow humans unfettered access to space without the need for the most cumbersome rockets. Launching spacecraft from the stratosphere instead of the ground will save hundreds of millions and permit frequent, easy-access to space.
