To the Jew first and also to the Greek

If you don't mind a long ride and some of my questionable conclusions, I think you might get a blessing.

Matthew 15:21-28

The Faith of a Canaanite Woman

21 Leaving that place, Jesus withdrew to the region of Tyre and Sidon. 22 A Canaanite woman from that vicinity came to him, crying out, “Lord, Son of David, have mercy on me! My daughter is demon-possessed and suffering terribly.”
23 Jesus did not answer a word. So his disciples came to him and urged him, “Send her away, for she keeps crying out after us.”
24 He answered, “I was sent only to the lost sheep of Israel.”
25 The woman came and knelt before him. “Lord, help me!” she said.
26 He replied, “It is not right to take the children’s bread and toss it to the dogs.”
27 “Yes it is, Lord,” she said. “Even the dogs eat the crumbs that fall from their master’s table.”
28 Then Jesus said to her, “Woman, you have great faith! Your request is granted.” And her daughter was healed at that moment.

Mark 7:24-30

Jesus Honors a Syrophoenician Woman’s Faith

24 Jesus left that place and went to the vicinity of Tyre. He entered a house and did not want anyone to know it; yet he could not keep his presence secret. 25 In fact, as soon as she heard about him, a woman whose little daughter was possessed by an impure spirit came and fell at his feet. 26 The woman was a Greek, born in Syrian Phoenicia. She begged Jesus to drive the demon out of her daughter.
27 “First let the children eat all they want,” he told her, “for it is not right to take the children’s bread and toss it to the dogs.”
28 “Lord,” she replied, “even the dogs under the table eat the children’s crumbs.”
29 Then he told her, “For such a reply, you may go; the demon has left your daughter.”
30 She went home and found her child lying on the bed, and the demon gone.

Romans 1:16

For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes: first to the Jew, then to the Gentile.

Nothing new in these passages, that I have to share, except to remind us that Jesus' ministry was to the Jews. Paul's ministry was to the Gentiles. I think there may be a clue, regarding the date of the rapture, in this little study.

Before you buckle up as another date setter is on the loose, let me say that I don't "know" the day or the hour. I am not certain. I don't have billboards declaring May 2011 is it, but we do have a brain. Matthew 16 and John 3, both tell us that we should be aware of not only what is going on around us physically, but spiritually as well.

Hosea 6:1-3

Israel Unrepentant

1 “Come, let us return to the LORD.
He has torn us to pieces
but he will heal us;
he has injured us
but he will bind up our wounds.
2 After two days he will revive us;
on the third day he will restore us,
that we may live in his presence.
3 Let us acknowledge the LORD;
let us press on to acknowledge him.
As surely as the sun rises,
he will appear;
he will come to us like the winter rains,
like the spring rains that water the earth.”

Two days? Interesting language, don't you think?

John 4:40-43

40 So when the Samaritans came to him, they urged him to stay with them, and he stayed two days. 41 And because of his words many more became believers.

42 They said to the woman, “We no longer believe just because of what you said; now we have heard for ourselves, and we know that this man really is the Savior of the world.”

Jesus Heals an Official’s Son

43 After the two days he left for Galilee.

Jesus spent two days with the Gentiles. Interesting.

2 Peter 3:8

But do not forget this one thing, dear friends: With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day.

12 months in a Jewish year x 30 days in a Hebrew month = 360 days in a year x 2 x 1000 = 720,000 days.

When did Paul begin his ministry to the Gentiles? Well we don't know, but evidence suggests somewhere between 36 and 40AD.

A study on Paul's ministry chronology

What if Paul's ministry began as late as 40AD? What if it began at Pentecost?

This would be exactly 7 years since the church was born in Acts 2.

The Jews have been given another week (7 years-Daniel 9?)

Pentecost ran from June 6th through June 13th.

From June 15th 40A.D. until Rosh Hoshanna/Feast of Trumpets September 29th, 2011 is 720,000 days.

Could it be that the last 2,000 years (Jewish years) have been the time of the Gentiles. And the two days are up?

Maybe so.

I do know we are in the season. There is too much evidence.

  1. i know we are in that season like you mentioned based upon God's prophecies-israel being the key that turns that lock. it is quite interesting what you have calculated. i don't know the day or the hour either of course but believe that God's Word seems at times to "hide things in plain site". this is just true in life that many things we are looking for are right in the palms of our hands and we do not look there because we form expectations from human reasoning making some things more complicated than simple faith would simply believe. i just believe that His call for His church to come up is sooner--much sooner--rather than later. i enjoy reading here at this site. thank you.
