Israel Celebrates Its 71st Anniversary

Israelis will mark the 71st anniversary of their country today, but celebrations already began last night.  Fireworks, flags, and fanfare are ongoing from Tel Aviv all the way to the Negev.  The jubilant celebrators are proof positive that Israel has put forth leaves and her Messiah is right at the door.  But the nation does not believe in Him.  They've rejected Him.  And so, for a time, they will accept an impostor.  Speaking of "putting forth leaves," it looks like Israel is about to do that once again as it may soon annex about one-third of Judea and Samaria.

From the fig tree learn its lesson: as soon as its branch becomes tender and puts out its leaves, you know that summer is near.  So also, when you see all these things, you know that he is near, at the very gates.  Truly, I say to you, this generation will not pass away until all these things take place.
- Matthew 24:32–34

The years of our life are seventy,
or even by reason of strength eighty;
yet their span is but toil and trouble;
they are soon gone, and we fly away.
- Psalm 90:10

  1. NUMBERS have meaning in Scripture as is writen many times at this blog. For a short summary hereby the following list to ponder. The full list and article van be found at the supplied link at the end.

    The number 70, as shown in the examples below, symbolizes fullness, restoration, and an endpoint:

    • The post-flood world was repopulated by 70 descendants of Noah, resulting in 70 nations (Gen. 10).

    • Terah, the father of Abraham, was 70 years old when Abraham was born (Gen. 11:26).

    • The Nation of Israel began with 70 Hebrews who migrated to Egypt (Ex. 1:1-5).

    • Moses appointed 70 elders to be the governing body of Israel (Num. 11:16).

    • Following the liberation from bondage in Egypt, the children of Israel camped at an oasis of 70 palm trees (Ex. 15:27).

    • The Jews were liberated from captivity in Babylon after 70 years (Jer. 29:10).

    • God's plan of redemption for Israel and Jerusalem is comprised of 70 weeks (Dan. 9:24-27).

    • Jesus sent out 70 disciples to harvest the field of believers (Luke 10:1 KJV).

    • A typical human lifespan is 70 years (Ps. 90:10).

    • Israel's greatest ruler, King David, died at the age of 70 (2 Sam. 5:4).

  3. Truly, 70 is a sacred number. God bless Israel forever ! God keeps His Covenants forever and everything will happen just the way God planned it. What a thrilling time to be alive. Thank you, Lord Jesus ! Your death, burial and Resurrection is the greatest Act of love and victory there has ever been and You made it possible to spend eternity with You if we accept Your free gift of pardon that You shed Your innocent and precious Blood to give us. I love you. We love you ! Please, come quickly because You and Your Church are meant to be together forever !

    3. Nony, turning 70 is a meaningful milestone if you know the Bible and how God uses numbers in prophecy. There are Divine Codes which is also the name of a book Pastor Steve Cioccolanti just wrote. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=pViVlpzHK00#fauxfullscreen Is a video with some info if you are interested.

  4. Jesus took the beating, the nails, which we deserve; all for the love of us sinners. Act's 1:10-11 says he's coming back in the same fashion he went away. That gives me hope. When ever Jesus comes for his bride I pray we are ready and expecting him to show up. I believe most people don't watch or care about our Lords return and it saddens me. I will continue to watch for that Blessed day. 71 years for Israel, how much more time is left?

  6. Thanks Gary.
    I don't get how may 9th is their independence day and May 14th is the date Israel became a nation.
    Surely May 14th is the exactly 71 sun years since the creation of the state of Israel?

    1. Yes, on the solar Gregorian calendar May 14th is exactly 71 years.

      On the Hebrew calendar, which is based on the lunar cycles and intercalary months, the years are a bit different.

      In this case, the reason Israel is celebrating today and tomorrow is that 5/14/1948 was Iyar 5. And 5/9-10/2019 is Iyar 5.

  8. Has anybody thought about the birth of the Royal baby. Is it possible that this is another picture of the birth of the church? Maybe I am over thinking this, but I find it interesting that the baby was born close to the birthday of Israel.

    1. Yes, but they named the kid Archie......

  9. I looked up the name Archie and it means genuine, bold, or brave. I may be reading into this, but is it possible this could be a picture of the genuine church being raptured? The Philadelphia church?

  10. I think back to how it was the father of the groom who gave the bride away when Prince Harry and Meghan got married. You might be on to something.
