HISTORIC TRAGEDY: Australian Fires Now Largest Since 2002

With newly revised figures released, the Australian wildfires have now become the largest since 2002 in terms of area burnt, not just in Australia, but in the world.  The scale of the disaster is extraordinary: over one billion vertebrate animals have been killed, including, by some estimates, one-third of the world's koala population.  Many species are on the verge of extinction from the fires.  Dozens of people have been killed and thousands of structures have been destroyed.

Now to the scale: according to the Australian government the fires have now burned over 17 million hectares and the numbers are still growing (source).  That's over 65,000 square miles of forest and brush incinerated.  To put that in perspective, that's the size of England and Wales combined.  Or every inch of the entire state of Oklahoma.

The scale of the disaster has apparently been having a spiritual impact among Australians as many have turned to God to save the country.  Even atheists and very secular people have been praying.  One man interviewed some of them to ask why:

The fires are to Australians as 9/11 was to Americans.  The events shook many awake from their slumber, and many turned to God.  But the revival in the United States was relatively short-lived.

Tragically, Australia has joined with much of the western world in embracing homosexual marriage and transgenderism, and one of the country's two main parties is strongly pushing to liberalize abortion laws to allow for the wholesale slaughter of children.  Will the country turn back?  I certainly pray that it does, but the fires, along with other world events, are signs that the world at large is heading for a dramatic end-of-the-age showdown between the forces of light and darkness.  Good will ultimately triumph and all will be made right, but not before the world experiences what it truly means to reject the goodness of God.

For those still clinging to this dying world, don't.  Get on board the Ark.

    1. It appears you are right. I've revised the article. I was comparing to here:

      https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_wildfires

And the 2019-20 Australian fires exceed all of the ones with numbers listed. However, when you go here, you can see there have been a handful that have exceeded this year:

In 1974-75, lush growth of grasses and forbs following exceptionally heavy rainfall in the previous two years provided continuous fuels through much of central Australia and in this season fires burnt over 117 million hectares or 15 per cent of the total land area of this continent.

  4. These fires in Australia are a foretaste of what will happen during the Tribulation Period:

    "Revelation 8:7 (KJV):

7 The first angel sounded, and there followed hail and fire mingled with blood, and they were cast upon the earth: and the third part of trees was burnt up, and all green grass was burnt up."

I think that the smoke from these fires in Australia will have a cooling effect on the atmosphere, just like after a severe volcanic eruption (VEI 6 or bigger).

  5. Thanks Gary,
Prayers for the Australian people, that many see this hardship and turn to Jesus. Nobody ever turns to Jesus when their life is going well, it is only when they are at the end of themselves, and hanging by a thread, that they drop to their knees and turn to the bible. Praying for respite for them, but more so, praying as many people turn and put their faith in Jesus?

  6. Unfortunately, as the wildfires are symptoms of a large, developing cause which grows, you ain't seen nothin', yet. Any comparison to PRIOR events are that, but the numbers on this one grow daily, so, not yet historically valid comparison anyways as only 1 value is yet history. Still, diligence in such details, surely, just saying. Prayers for all affected are essential as evidence exits that ALL in AU will need leave ere this is over.

  7. On Dec 2017 Australia legalized gay marriage. Two years later on December 2019 Australia declares a state of emergency because of the bushfires. I feel this is related but in any case, it's all part of humanity's curse. May God have mercy and send rain to Australia and stop the fires.

Placed within a larger Context, in Sept 2017, Our Lord Orchestrated The Great Wonder, Before The World. 2 months later, the same year and also the month Historically celebrating Christ's Birth, Dec, 2017, AU passed Same Sex marriage. OK, so now we say AU's response to TGW and His Response To Theirs, amen.

If you Google Australia's religious affiliations, Christianity accounts for LESS than 30% and of that, NOT all are necessarily Christians. Islam, Buddhism, and Hindi account for the greatest portion of religious belief.
The above said to say that Australia as a nation is in dire need of prayer and petition on their behalf with regard to the salvation of its populace.
Let's pray the fires of destruction will lead many away from the eternal flames of hell!

    2. Anon, I know you think your telling folks here something you believe but the real thing that needs to happen is for you to deal with your deep fear of not being forgiven. Look back on that road you took and get out the map..you turned the wrong way. I wonder what you did. Did you worship other gods? Sun worship? Hurry and talk to the Lord about it. Tell him what you are really scared about and what you did. Then open the Bible and read. Read until every inch of you believes all of it. Maybe the good folks here can help with good lessons on forgiveness and belief. Since you look for long routes to help you learn, I think for you, though you may not understand why now, I think you rereading Ruth again tomorrow is a good start. Good news is that God doesn't want anyone to go to hell and its a hard subject to talk about for anyone but it is scriptural. So...don't maybe talk about it if it bothers you. But get yourself near Jesus again and don't turn off the path. I pray you believe him enough to enjoy the Bible again. Consider it possible that he is waiting for you..and I think it might be best for you to really humble yourself first and remember who you are talking to. Hope it goes well. He has the power to forgive. He really does.

      Regards, Stacie

Hosea 4:1-3 ...'Hear the word of the Lord, ye children of Israel: for the Lord hath a controversy with the inhabitants of the land, because there is no truth, nor mercy, nor knowledge of God in the land. By swearing, and lying, and killing, and stealing, and committing adultery, they break out, and blood toucheth blood. Therefore shall the land mourn, and every one that dwelleth therein shall languish, with the beasts of the field, and with the fowls of heaven; yea, the fishes of the sea also shall be taken away.'

Zephaniah 1:2-3 ...'I will utterly consume all things from off the land, saith the Lord. I will consume man and beast; I will consume the fowls of the heaven, and the fishes of the sea, and the stumbling blocks with the wicked: and I will cut off man from off the land, saith the Lord.'

  14. The word hell is the word grave in the O.T.. THERE IS NO LIFE AFTER DEATH IN ANY FORM.
Before I give you some scriptures let me ask you all something. Where is Adolf Hitler now? Do you think hes burning in hell suffering in a conscious state? You all know John 3:16, Jesus came to provide eternal life for those who believe in him and accept his sacrifice.
Was hitler a Christian? Do you think he accepted Christ? I think not, however according to the traditional belief in hell that you have, hitler is alive and has eternal life. Its not a very good life but hes alive nonetheless. Do you really think its fair and do you really think a loving God would send someone to the fires of hell for 80 million plus years?
Believe what you want but I dont think so. In case you all have forgotten, fire is not a preservative, it burns things up. And thats whats going to happen to the unbeliever when they are resurrected at the white throne judgement. Sorry, hitler is not burning in hell, he is in an unconscious state awaiting his resurrection.
I know this cuts across the grain of your traditional belief systems on the subject but please dont suggest that im some lost soul whos lost his way because I see things differently. Thats really offensive. With that here are some verses to think about. Psalms 146:4- Ecclesiastes 9:10.
When people die they go into an unconscious state of non-existence. The soul does not go anywhere. The soul is simply what animates our physical bodies. After God made Adam he breathed in him the breath of life and man became a living-soul. When a person dies thier soul is no more.

  18. God is so Holy that only the death, burial and resurrection of His Perfect Sinless Son would satisfy God. God is described as Holy Holy Holy. Only Holy is mentioned 3 x when describing God. And it’s not God that sends you to hell, it’s your unbelief. You condemn yourself.

  22. Revelation 20

10 And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.

11 And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them.

12 And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.

13 And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works.

14 And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.

15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.

  23. Mark 9

42 And whosoever shall offend one of these little ones that believe in me, it is better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and he were cast into the sea.

43 And if thy hand offend thee, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter into life maimed, than having two hands to go into hell, into the fire that never shall be quenched:

44 Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched.

45 And if thy foot offend thee, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter halt into life, than having two feet to be cast into hell, into the fire that never shall be quenched:

46 Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched.

47 And if thine eye offend thee, pluck it out: it is better for thee to enter into the kingdom of God with one eye, than having two eyes to be cast into hell fire:

48 Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched.

  25. Im not going to repeat what I wrote. Traditional hell where sinners suffer and burn forever is not biblical or logical. The lake of fire is a place reserved for the devil, the beast and false prophet. If you read Ezekiel 28:18 it says that the devil will eventually be brought to ASHES. Where it says that he will be there forever and ever. If you study those words, it more accurately reads- for ages and ages.
It will take time but eventually the devil will be 'ashes', destroyed.
The concept of a place of eternal torment and suffering for sinners comes from greek mythology. The greeks translate the word hell-hades.
There is a great book available on WWW.TLTF.ORG. named 'Is there life after death'.

  26. An article or two back I posted a list of who from which dispensation ends up where based on belief.
    It's Biblically based, but incomplete.
    * * * * *
The BOTTOM LINE is whether someone is saved or not.
If they're a believer, they will end up spending their eternity with God.
If they are NOT, they won't.
WHERE the unsaved end up will, in the long run, hardly matter.
It's like asking someone if they want a $1 in quarters, nickels, dimes, or pennies - it's still a $1! (Unless you a 4 years old, the 100 pennies is more! :o) )
The whole point is to try and do something about it NOW.
    * * * * *
Australia as a nation is aware of their predicament and apparently many are turning to God in their distress. Hurray, hurray!
Keep on praying - the more saved the merrier!
The fires may also, hopefully, give pause to others who pay attention to such things, to pray for the unsaved within their own purview.
    * * * * *
There but for the grace of God go you and I.
We all at one point were NOT SAVED.
We all had to come to the point of accepting Christ as our Savior.
Who can say what manner of prayers by our parents, grandparents, or random strangers helped to aide that decision.
    PRAY!

  29. Then what the "heck" was the purpose of the ultimate sacrifice that Christ suffered thru in the cross? To "save" us from non-existence"?? The Bible is very very very clear about hell and who will go there. His salvation work was not for just to give us a nice upgrade!

  31. Excuse me Archangel but I dont consider annihilation an 'upgrade' from my current life. If you worship a God who would condemn people to an eternity of suffering and torment in the flames of hell then thats not a God who I want to know. Im not deceived, you are my friend.

    ReplyDelete
  32. I worship a God that would send his only begotten Son to be the ultimate sacrifice in order to SAVE people from the tortures of hell. No deception there. I think your view of what we are saved from is skewed. God's Holy and Perfect character will not and cannot grade in a curve. The Bible is clear. I stand on that..not on my own personal view of justice.
