RIS - How We Measure

The Rapture Index Score (RIS) is our measure of how close we believe we are to "the glorious appearing of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ" (Titus 2:13) based on a number of prophetic factors mentioned in the Bible as pertaining to the time leading up to the Tribulation.

Categories are listed alphabetically below.  They have expository links for those who wish to read more about the subject and find the Scriptural references associated with the Birth Pangs, Signs, and Prophetic Events.  The index score is a living breathing snapshot of where we are in the moment.  Contextually, the scores may be influenced by current events and if so, we'll put a link to the event in the weekly score.  Some of the categories are difficult to score because the time frame of reference is not fixed, earthquakes are a prime example.  Activity levels have increased so much that the new normal hovers around a 9 or a 10!  Please share information and comments with us.  We appreciate you.

God's Word is quite clear that "no man knows the day or hour", yet it is equally clear that His people are commanded to watch.  (A careful study of the phrase is illuminating, I encourage you to follow the link and spend some time in the article sited.)

At the Time of the End, the wise shall understand (Dan 12:10). 1 Thessalonians 5:1-6:

Now concerning how and when all this will happen, dear brothers and sisters, we don’t really need to write you. For you know quite well that the day of the Lord’s return will come unexpectedly, like a thief in the night. When people are saying, “Everything is peaceful and secure,” then disaster will fall on them as suddenly as a pregnant woman’s labor pains begin. And there will be no escape. But you aren’t in the dark about these things, dear brothers and sisters, and you won’t be surprised when the day of the Lord comes like a thief. For you are all children of the light and of the day; we don’t belong to darkness and night. So be on your guard, not asleep like the others. Stay alert and be clearheaded.

Those who set exact dates for the rapture or return of Christ are in violation of Scripture—especially those who say their dates are more than speculation. However, those who say Christians should not study the signs of the Lord's return are in equal violation of Scripture. Dozens of signs are given to us from God for a reason.

Out of 31,124 verses in the Bible, 8,352 are prophetic26.8 percent of the Bible's volume is prophecy. We may not be able to ascertain the exact day or hour of His coming, but we can certainly see the signs growing much more frequent and closer together "as labor pains come upon a pregnant woman".

  1. I'm almost embarrassed for my fellow Christians that an entire website and movement has been devoted to (dare I say) predict a "general time-frame" of Christ's return based on prophetic signs in the Bible. If our time is so short and precious (which I agree it is), please spend more of it rooted in Christ's love and example rather than causing a panic and alienating Christians from non-believers in the worst way possible: saying implicitly, "I just want to be right." Waste of time and breath, and apparently resources.

  2. You want to be right? We were commanded to watch, be ready, and pray always that we are counted worthy to escape these things that are coming upon the earth. Do you have something better to do than go be with the Lord?

  3. I am watching and waiting for Him to catch us up! Actually, I am reading God's Word like never before. Just because those of us who are anticipating a possible Sept rapture in no way should be looked at as we are slacking in our devotion to Him. I can't see how you would come to that conclusion Anonymous. I spend just about every waking moment, each and every day in God's Word and watching just like we were instructed to do. Sounding alarms for those who are asleep is not only scriptural but also very beneficial to our witnessing to those who are not believers. I for one came to know the Lord in just that way. Many years ago a young girl began telling me about the future rapture of the church. I had never heard of such a thing and I wanted to know more! So intrigued, I began going to church to learn more. Along the way I accepted Jesus in to my heart. It does not cause panic as you say. What is causes is curiosity and curiosity cause seeking! I know it first hand. I do not avoid other scripture and most don't. We know the time is short and are diving into God's Word more than ever before! I praise God for the watchmen and for their efforts to open the eyes of the multitudes who have no idea how close the rapture is. This is no time to argue with other fellow brothers and sisters in our Lord. This is a time of awakening!
