Rise of the Empire of the Antichrist?

In light of what we see happening in Syria/Iraq, the "people of the prince who is to come" (Daniel 9:26-27), and Islamic end times eschatology (which seems to be a satanic inverse of Biblical/true eschatalogy)... could the newly restored Caliphate led by "Caliph Ibrahim" be the beginnings of the empire of the antichrist?

Is this man the antichrist, the false prophet, or a precursor?  Note that Abraham/"Ibrahim" is called the "father of all monotheistic religions".  Could he soon claim to be the Mahdi?

His caliphate now controls roughly half of Iraq and one-third of Syria and continues to make rapid advances, just two days ago taking control of Iraq's largest dam.  He is calling all Muslims in the world to obey and fight for him.  Also, he was born right in the heart of ancient Assyria--in some prophecy circles it is said that the antichrist is none other than "the Assyrian".  It is also said the "people of the prince who is to come" were Syrians/Assyrians who actually destroyed Jerusalem and the temple in 70 AD.  General Titus was the leader and a Roman, but the actual soldiers doing the dirty work were the ancestors of none other than Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi.
