I've been a strong defender of the Holy See for its pro-life, pro-marriage, pro-Christ stances, but over the last few years the Vatican has made some big, or should I say... huge moves against God's Word. First has been the de facto acceptance of theistic evolution, counter to every relevant scripture. Second has been the movement to replace the Biblical "Great Commission" precept with a false universal ecumenicalism between Christianity, Islam, and Judaism. And finally, third, just happened over the past couple of weeks:
The Vatican Synod on the Middle East has concluded that:
1. Israel cannot build and expand settlements based on the idea that God promised them the land of Israel.
2. God's promises to Israel have been superseded by the New Testament.
3. Israel is no longer the chosen people of God since, apparently, everyone now is.
These are some shocking conclusions. Let's quickly dissect them, one-by-one.
For starters, God promised the land of Canaan to Jacob and his descendants "forever". Period. Second, God's promises do not change like the shifting promises of the world. The promises of the Old Testament do not get thrown out when the New comes in; rather they are expanded and fulfilled with the coming of Jesus. And third, Israel is still the chosen people of God and that doesn't change when Jesus comes on the scene. Jesus didn't establish a "new" chosen people, but rather He grafted the Gentiles in to the same "olive tree" as the Jews.
“We Christians cannot speak of the ‘promised land’ as an exclusive right for a privileged Jewish people,” Bustros said. “This promise was nullified by Christ. There is no longer a chosen people – all men and women of all countries have become the chosen people.”
The Vatican had better realize their mistake very, very soon, and repent, or it will bring upon itself judgment to terrible to imagine.
You say that God's promises do not change like the shifting promises of the world...but since you are talking about the Vatican, you can also point out that God's promises do not change like the ever-changing tenants of the Catholic church.
ReplyDeleteWhen you see the Pope kissing and blessing the Quran, which in hundreds of verses contradicts God's Word, it makes me wonder who or what is the Pope is kissing up to? Ecumenicalism is poison at this point as there is too much difference between Christianity and Islam and Judaism. The Vatican is rife with false doctrine and the institutional church is dead. I worship as a spirit-filled Christian in a church that if it doesn't line up with scripture - throw it out!
